BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE CALDECOTT FESTIVAL GROUP

FREE FOR ALL CHILDREN IN SHROPSHIRE

SUPPORTED BY SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL EMERGENCY ARTS COVID 19 FUNDING

Can you help? We need 1,000 ‘little artists’ to help create a ‘Natural World’ masterpiece!

REMEMBER Picasso said that every child is an artist!!!

WHEN IS IT?

MONDAY 6 JULY TO SATURDAY 31 OCTOBER

WHAT IS IT?

‘The Little Artists Challenge’ is a project to team up 1,000 local children and the professional artist, Sarah Evans, to encourage creativity and to produce a large scale community art piece, inspired by nature, for local display.

Children of all ages please look around you and help us by observing bugs, bees, flowers or any natural forms and produce a picture of them. Send your picture to Sarah at:  silknstuff@hotmail.com

WHERE IS IT?

‘The little Artists Challenge’

Sarah needs colourful pictures of any natural form that you can see around you. Perhaps take a walk, explore your garden or simply look out of your window to find something that inspires you. It could be a single bug or creature, a flower or a leaf or a whole tree, it is up to you! It doesn’t have to be very detailed, just a bold, clear image works best. Pictures need to be A4 sized and clearly marked with your first name and age on the front.

HOW WILL IT WORK?

‘The little Artists Challenge’

Sarah Evans, the artist is aiming to produce a multiple, patchwork style, canvas creation using images inspired by the art work of 1,000 children. The theme will be the ‘natural world’, the final pieces, which will include children’s work to be displayed locally for all to see.

You can use paint, crayon or marker pen for instance. Please clearly mark your art with your first name and age on the front.

Please complete your pictures by Saturday 31 October and send them to Sarah at silknstuff@hotmail.com.

Sarah says she will then adapt all the pictures you send to her to compose a patchwork of images on silk painted canvases to make up a collection of large scale canvases. It will be children’s work that is directly informing the end result. First names and age will appear on the work.

Sarah Evans – Bio

I am a Shropshire based, self-taught artist specialising in painting on silk, producing original art work, greetings cards, scarves and cushions. I work in schools and health care settings and enjoy teaching all things creative to adults and children, with an emphasis on ‘Art for Health’. I love bright colour and bold images, often inspired by animals and nature but also like the challenge of a portrait. I sometimes use mixed media collage techniques, incorporating recycled materials.

I regularly do talks, demonstrations and workshops for WI groups, U3A’s, art groups and schools in Shropshire and beyond.
